Ordover Gallery in Solona Beach Field Trip #1

I visited the Ordover Gallery on Saturday. It was a picture gallery and the main photographer was Abe Ordover. When I visited his gallery I saw a lot of pictures that looked like it could of been painted. For example I viewed his book, Imagining Nature II, and I saw the pictures he took of the water. It looks like he took a paintbrush  and just slurred it around the canvas when really he just timed the photo and took the picture of the water. His pictures had an illusion to them making viewers think that it is a painting but instead it was a picture.

Another photographer I looked at is Art Wolf. He takes a lot of pictures on nature, cultures and animals. I viewed his book, One World One Gallery. In this book he visits other continents and takes pictures on people, nature and animals. The pictures are really clear and crisp. The quality of the photos make you feel like you are right there. Also I have noticed that the clarity of the photos and the angles of them make it look like the photos are photoshopped. I enjoyed looking at this type of photography because I have never seen photos this clear before.

Richard Abaddon

Richard Avedon did a lot of portrait shots but his type of portrait shots had a unique style. Most of his pictures were black and white. His unique style consisted of having the pictures look more artistic rather then just someone posing in a picture. He tried to mix in fashion, art and photography all into one picture and did so. His pictures always looked gloomy or someone always being serious. Avedon believed that a serious looking picture brought out the picture more. I found that pictures had a lot of meaning in them. He liked to have a political or other types of meaning in his pictures.

Overlay, Sepia and Blur Pictures

I am aiming towards food and I experimented with overlays, sepia and the gaussian blur. I tried to tweak the colors to make the picture more lively.

Rick Smolan

Rick is quite an interesting guy. When I heard his story I kept thinking that he is always rushing his job and his life. It seemed like he was trying to live life in the fast lane. I am trying to process what he said about Australia and he moves on to talking about his trip to the Prime Minister. Rick really cares about his job and puts a lot of effort in it. Although I may think he is an interesting guy I respect what he did because it seemed like he was going to fail in what he was doing but there was always another way out of trouble and into success. I admired his effort and hard work that he put because if he gave up he would not be where he is right now. My favorite part about his interview was when he took one day to photograph everything in Australia and made it to a book. At first many people doubted that the book would ever sell but in the end it sold well and made more types of books like that.
